How to Fix Cursor Freeze, Disappears, or Jumps in Windows 10, 8, or 7 – Cursor is an important part of computer/laptop which is very helpful for users. Without a cursor, you will be confused about keeping everything under your control cause it really has a big impact to make your computer/laptop more usable. But sometimes, shit happens.

Cursor frozen on laptop? Here’s how to fix it:

Using Shortcut (For Laptop Only)

Commonly, laptops have features using Fn button combos to enable or disable some specific features. For example, in Dell New Vostro 14 3478, you can increase the brightness by pressing Fn+F12 and decrease the brightness by pressing Fn+F11.

For freezing cursor issue, you can press Fn+F9 or Fn+F7 and try to move your cursor again, that Fn combos are enabling and disabling touchpad function. In case you may hit the combo accidentally, try pressing it again so your pointer will be normal again.

These Fn combos to fix cursor freeze or moving by itself can be applied on most laptops. For HP laptop user, if you’re also experiencing the “touchpad is not working” issue, then you can fix it by pressing the Fn combos as well.

Mouse Settings in Control Panel

If the shortcut keys trick doesn’t work, then you may try this one. Windows 10 has Control Panel feature to help you set your PC/laptop by yourself. One of the features is Mouse Settings. To be able to access it, follow these steps below:

Re-enable Touchpad Driver on Laptop

Open the Control Panel. The process is different in each Windows version, but this method might be used to enter the Control Panel in Windows 10, 8, 7, and XP:

  1. Type “Control Panel” in the search menu on Start. Press Enter.
  2. Click Hardware and Sound
  3. On Devices and Printers, click Mouse

  5. Now you can re-enable the mouse function by clicking Disable then Enable
  6. Don’t forget to Apply the settings and click OK

Re-enabling mouse driver process in a computer is quite the same as laptop method, but the difference is on the Mouse Settings tab.

How to Fix Pointer Disappears When Typing

Sometimes, the pointer disappears from the PC/laptop screen not because there’s an error on your mouse/touchpad, but misconfiguration in Settings.

Do you even realize that your pointer disappears while you’re typing in word processor apps like Microsoft WordWPS, or OpenOffice?

Restart the Computer/Laptop
