There are many reasons why you can’t change your Facebook page name.
Why can’t I change my Facebook page name?
You might think that Facebook has their own policies about changing page name, and that’s correct. These are some reasons why you can’t change your Facebook page name:
Your new page name is completely different from the current name
This is exactly what happened to me a few days ago. I used to have a fashion & lifestyle website and a page named Lifestyle Nowadays. As I moved on to this new website (Writer River), I also wanted to change my Facebook page name to Writer River, cause it already had 87 likes at that time (not bad).
So, I was trying to change the name from Lifestyle Nowadays to Writer River. The first attempt wasn’t succeeded. I got this notification:
I was figuring out what’s wrong with the new name. I even searched about this on Google but that didn’t help a lot. But, I was just getting a little bit information that it turns out, Facebook doesn’t allow users to change their page using a completely different name than the current name. Facebook thinks it’s irrelevant.
Your page has more than 200 likes
Changing Facebook page name is easy if your page hasn’t more than 200 likes. Facebook will directly approve any change. But if your Facebook has more than 200 likes, then you should be the Admin to be able to change the name.
So, how to change Facebook page name after 200 likes?
The Secret Trick to Change Your Facebook Page Name using ANY NAME
Now you know that Facebook doesn’t allow you to change the page name with a completely different name. But is it possible to change the Facebook page name that has more than 200 likes using a different name? Yes, it is.
I’ve done some research and find out this interesting trick. After applying this trick, you will be able to change your Facebook page name using any name. Here’s the trick:
When you change the name. Add the current page name right
nextto the new page name you want.
Current Page Name: Lifestyle Nowadays
New Page Name: Writer River
So the page name you should use: Writer River Lifestyle Nowadays
After you have successfully changed it, wait up until 7 days and then change it again. But this time, delete the old name. Done.
That’s the secret trick. Are you still feeling confused about the trick? Let me show you how to change the Facebook page name step by step:
First, go to the About tab on your Facebook page as an Admin. After that, click “Edit“, which is on the right next to your current page name.
You’ll see the Request New Page Name window like a picture below. Type in your new name.
Make sure to apply my secret trick while typing in the new page name. Also, follow this Facebook Page Naming Tips:
- Do use a name that represents what your page is about, and be specific about your name
- Don’t use any variation of “Facebook” word
- Don’t use “Official” word
- Don’t use any company slogan
- Don’t use words that can be violating, discriminatory, or abusive
Once you have typed in your new page name, click Continue to submit it so Facebook can review it.
According to my experience. I was only waiting for 5 minutes to get the notification from Facebook that my request was approved. If you don’t get the notification for an hour, be patient. Facebook will send you the notification. But if there’s a delay up to one day. Contact Facebook support and ask what’s the problem.
Delete the Old Page Name
Up until this point, you have successfully changed your Facebook page name to new name + current name. Now let’s go to the next step: Delete the current name. Just so you know. You should wait up to 7 days to be able to change the page name again. When you change it, delete the old name and submit it. For example:
Current Name: Writer River Lifestyle Nowadays
So the name you should use: Writer River
And then submit it.
You will get the approval notification such as picture below.
